Scottish Golf Pairs Challenge (5-10 September 2010)
A new golf event for amateur golf across the country is coming to Angus and East Perthshire. The Scottish Golf Pairs Challenge was launched at Blairgowrie Golf Club in October with the help of Walker Cup player and recent winner of the Irish Open, Gavin Dear, and former Scottish Amateur Strokeplay and Match Play Champion, Kevin McAlpine.

The event is intended to showcase the magnificent golfing territory on our door step and warm hospitality on offer. A partnership of the participating courses was successful in securing funding from the European Regional Development Fund, enabling the group to launch the event.

The better ball strokeplay event with a prizefund of £2,500 will be played over 5 courses - Alyth, Blairgowrie (Rosemount), Glenisla, Kirriemuir and Strathmore.

Alistair Gibb, chairman of the Scottish Golf Pairs Challenge said at the launch “This is a fine example of local tourism and golf clubs coming together to form a successful partnership to encourage future growth in forthcoming years”. Mike Purdie, Chairman of the local Tourist Association Committee added “The highly successful Scottish Mixed Foursomes Golf Week has already introduced many hundreds of new visitors to this wonderfully scenic part of Scotland, and we wish the Scottish Golf Pairs Challenge an equally successful future. I am happy to offer the full backing of the Blairgowrie & East Perthshire Tourist Association (BEPTA), and we will do all we can to support this excellent initiative.”

Details of the event can be found on www.scottishgolfpairs.co.uk or by email at enquiries@scottishgolfpairs.co.uk

VisitScotland Tees Up With Go-Golf.TV For New Website
VisitScotland are incorporating video as a main feature of their new golf website (http://golf.visitscotland.com) and Go-Golf.TV, a small video production company based in Angus, will be supplying their existing and upcoming Scottish golf course videos to the site.

Mark McCardie, Golf Product Manager at VisitScotland says, “The main purpose of the site is to promote golf, one of our country’s strongest products and central to that web presentation is Go-Golf.TV’s suite of Scottish golf course videos.”

In an era when clubs are seeing memberships and visitor numbers drop, he feels that this is the time to be investing in new marketing ideas such as online video.

“The more you can engage the product with the consumer, the more they get a real feel for it. We are truly blessed in Scotland as the golf product is exceptional. Video facilitates this engagement and brings the experience to life for the consumer to imagine what it would be like to play on some of the best courses in the world,” said Mark.

Based in Kirriemuir, Go-Golf.TV is run by husband and wife team, David and Susie Whyte. David is well known as a golf landscape photographer and the majority of the still images on the new website are also provided by him.

Specialising in short, quality videos, Go-Golf.TV is building a reputation both here and abroad for their skills in this new, online medium. David has recently completed several trips to Turkey where Go-Golf.TV has been commissioned to video golf courses and hotels in the up and coming golf area of Antalya.

Over the past few months Go-Golf.tv has been busy filming many of Scotland’s second tier courses to add to the Scottish portfolio of golf videos.

“It is flattering for us to be asked to work alongside VisitScotland in this way and we hope that Scottish golf clubs of all sizes will take advantage of this exciting opportunity to showcase their course to a large, worldwide audience,” said David.
