Winter in Perthshire

Welcome to winter in Perthshire
Perthshire is a land of contrasts, making it the perfect holiday destination all year round.

On one hand, the area is ideal for anyone who wants to recharge their batteries on a relaxing break - with beautiful drives, parks, gardens, museums, galleries, historical attractions, visitor centres and a mouth-watering range of restaurants. On the other hand, Perthshire is ideal for thrill-seekers looking for adventure, breathtaking scenery, sporting activities and an opportunity to experience the wild and get close to nature.

Perhaps you'd like to treat yourself to a romantic break. Well, Perth is a dynamic urban centre with specialist shopping, accommodation, cultural attractions and entertainment to rival many European destinations. In fact, Perth is set to celebrate its 800th Birthday in 2010 - it's a town with a proud heritage but also a bright future. Its location within Scotland's transport network makes Perth easy to get to, and a great base from which to explore the surrounding countryside.

So, in a nutshell, Perthshire offers something for everyone. It's open all year round, and there's so much to see you'll be spoilt for choice.

Hogmanay in Perthshire
Experience one of Scotland's best kept Hogmanay secrets, the traditional Flambeaux Procession in the village of Comrie on December 31. Held each year, the ancient tradition is said to ward off any evil spirits from the village and offers an unforgettable night and a Scottish New Year experience with a difference.

On New Years Day, many will take it easy after the rigours of the night before…but not Perthshire! What better way to kick off a new year, blow away the cobwebs, meet up with friends and wish them "Happy New Year" than at the Blairgowrie Ne'er Day Fun Run or with a visit to Pitlochry for a New Years Day Afternoon Street Party?

For further information on these events and a whole host of others click on the Eventful Perthshire button at the top of this page.
