Enjoy the countryside!

TOP TIPS FOR SUCCESSFUL WILDLIFE WATCHING
  • Inform yourself about species in the area before you go out

  • Listen to the advice of local experts

  • Remember that the welfare of wildlife must come first

  • Be as quiet as possible - sudden movement and noise will scare wildlife

  • Use binoculars as much as possible - follow wildlife at a responsible distance

  • Keep visual disturbance to a minimum eg. wear muted colours

  • Choose a waterproof fabric that doesn't rustle with your every movement

  • Avoid `alien` smells eg. strong perfume or aftershave

  • Do not feed wildlife - human food is unsuitable for wild animals and they must fend for themselves

  • Remember certain areas and species are protected under the Nature Conservation (Scotland) Act 2004 or local bylaws

  • Don't expect to see everything all at once - be patient
