Give the car a holiday too

Blair Castle and Grounds are easily accessed by train
In Perthshire it's easy to leave the car behind and have a fun-filled relaxing day out exploring exciting new places. You'll find a good range of public transport options operating from all the main towns throughout the year and numerous organised coach tours which run throughout the main holiday season.

Travelling by bus or train is often cheaper than taking the car and it gives your driver a chance to concentrate on the beautiful scenery rather than the road ahead. There's also a delightful sense of freedom and adventure in travelling light, not having the hassle of parking and coming into closer contact with the natives.

For a few ideas to get you started ask our staff at any of the VisitScotland Information Centres across Perthshire. A Public Transport Map of the area is available plus fully comprehensive bus and train timetables.

Alternatively contact TRAVELINE on 0871 200 22 33 for all Scottish public transport timetable and journey planning information.

Lift Sharing Schemes for Local People

To encourage more sensible car use and reduce the number of journeys where only one person is in the car, two new websites have been launched. The websites help people find lifts through a database which matches journeys and times of people who live and work in the region. The sites are free and available to both the general public and private groups. You don't even need a car to register for a match - hence the name `liftshare`.
