KILLIECRANKIE VISITOR CENTRE - GOLD AWARD

The excellent NTS visitor centre has displays on the natural history of the gorge of Killiecrankie and on the famous, bloody battle that took place there in 1698. Café, shop, picnic area and delightful walking trails in the ancient woodland beside the River Garry. Site open all year. Visitor Centre open Easter to end October. HUNTINGTOWER CASTLE - SILVER AWARD

A striking stone castle, dating from the 15th century, on the outskirts of Perth. Beautiful painted ceiling and fine views of the surrounding countryside from castle ramparts. LOCH LEVEN CASTLE - SILVER AWARD

This is the island castle where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned in 1567. She eventually escaped with the help of her gaoler's son and within two weeks had fled Scotland, never to return. The castle is accessed via a lovely short ferry trip in an open boat across Loch Leven National Nature Reserve. Open April to September. Quality Assurance Award - 4 star Visitor Attraction.

LOCH OF THE LOWES VISITOR CENTRE - SILVER AWARD
|
Visitor Centre and observation hides by tranquil Loch of the Lowes, 2 miles/3km east of Dunkeld. Breeding osprey and their chicks, plus wildfowl and other birds, can be seen from the hides. The centre has interactive displays, telescopes, binoculars and live nest cameras. Large viewing window onto open mixed woodland with feeders for red squirrels and woodland birds. QUEEN'S VIEW VISITOR CENTRE - SILVER AWARD

The centre is the focal point for the Tay Forest Park - a collection of delightful woodlands in Highland Perthshire. THE ELL SHOP - SILVER AWARD
|
In days long gone market traders measured cloth lengths against the `Ell`, the old Scots measure of just over a metre. The original `Ell` can be seen outside The Ell Shop, a gift shop that supports the work of the National Trust for Scotland. Open daily Easter to December.

SCONE PALACE - BRONZE AWARD

This historic palace has magnificent formal rooms housing unique collections. Moot Hill, the crowning site of the Kings of Scots, lies within the grounds.
