A Treasury of Unique and Fascinating Attractions

Beatrix Potter Garden, Birnam
One of the special joys of a visit to Perthshire is the opportunity to view some of the area's traditional, and not-so-traditional, crafts. From whisky to waterwheels, pottery to paperweights - Perthshire's craft industries create high quality products, which are exported all over the world. Many workshops, as well as larger factories, welcome visitors.

Marvel at the skills of glass blowing, work up an appetite with the smell of traditional Scottish delicacies being made or watch glassmakers engrave fabulous pieces of crystal ware. And, if you're looking for something to fill your glasses, stop off at one of our distilleries where you can learn how the water of life is distilled from natural ingredients. The oldest (Glenturret at Crieff) and the smallest (Edradour at Pitlochry) distilleries in Scotland are situated in Perthshire.

Other delicious beverages include the award-winning Scottish fruit wines made from local berries, flowers and leaves at the Cairn O' Mohr winery in the Carse of Gowrie, and the Scottish Liqueur Centre at Bankfoot, which produces Scottish liqueurs using recipes which go back generations.

Pitlochry Festival Theatre
Theatre lovers can enjoy a variety of performances in the opulent auditorium of Perth Theatre - which first opened its doors in 1900 - or at Pitlochry's Festival Theatre, the delightful theatre in the hills. Both attract visitors back year after year.

Or why not pay a visit to Perth Concert Hall, with a year-round programme of concerts, drama, films, exhibitions, new media, comedy and family events there's sure to be something to suit all interests.

If you're a nature lover, Perthshire is paradise. You can jump in a jeep and take an organised safari to where eagles nest and deer roam the hills. You can even try your hand at falconry or spend a day watching otters and osprey.
